The University of Nairobi 21 Central Departments signed a Performance Contract with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter M. F. Mbithi at the Council Chambers, Monday, 5th October, 2015.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Prof. Mbithi briefed the Departmental Heads and Directors of the new performance contract 12th cycle guidelines that required him to sign the PC with the Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
The Vice Chancellor urged all members of staff to perform well and even surpass the expected targets as per the PC.
The University of Nairobi has performed well in the past and has been ranked “Excellent” in the 2014/2015 Performance Contract Evaluation.
The departments that have not done well in the past were encouraged to pull up their socks and help the University in maintaining an excellent performance. The University managers were also asked by the Vice-Chancellor to help in managing the University image and brand. He asked them to work as a team to help the university remain a centre of scholarly excellence.
Also discussed were the new government guidelines that require those above retirement age to exit the service.
Present during the signing ceremony were the Deputy Vice-Chancellors; Prof. Bernard Njoroge, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, Prof. Henry Mutoro, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs, Prof. Lucy Irungu , Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research Production and Extension and the 6 College Principals and 2 Deputy Principals.
