New Year Message of Appreciation and Gratitude from Havillah Family

The Havillah Family expresses its sincere gratitude for the support and generosity received during the year 2025. The assistance provided greatly contributed to easing the family’s journey and supporting the welfare of the children under their care.

The family acknowledges the time taken to visit and the continued commitment demonstrated in providing care and support. This generosity is deeply appreciated and is recognized as a significant contribution to their wellbeing.

Staff Participation in Environmental Sustainability Activities

The University of Nairobi, in partnership with Safaricom, undertook a tree planting and growing initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability. In support of this initiative, the Internal Audit staff participated in the tree-planting exercise organized by the University. The activity was held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Upper Kabete Campus Field Station.

State exempts retirees Pension payments from taxation

The Cabinet has resolved to exempt gratuity payments owed to retirees from taxation in a key policy move it says is aimed at enhancing dignity for senior citizens.

Currently, gratuity payments are subject to taxation.

The decision to remove the tax was reached during ministerial deliberations chaired by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

 

Visit to Havillah Children's Home by internal Audit team

The internal Audit team visited Havillah Children's Home on the 22nd of August 2025. The Internal Audit was represented by Mr. Kenneth Gitau, Director internal Audit, Ms. Rechael Kairu and Ms. Rose Njoroge. 
In attendance were also a team from the All Saints Cathedral Church, Nairobi  Home Cell Group in which some of the Audit staff fellowships with. The Cell Group had raised kshs.15,500.00 towards our days shopping.
The Audit dept wishes to thank everyone for the generous contributions and support.
The children were looking good and vibrant.

VISIT OF NIGERIAN DELEGATION OF HEADS OF INTERNAL AUDIT

The Nigerian Internal Audit delegates visited the University of Nairobi Internal Audit department on the 23rd of July 2025. The delegation was lead by Biodun Adedeji, FCA, Programme Cordinator for the Committee of Heads of Internal Audit Department/Units of Nigerian Universities, Who was accompanied by other guest fro Nigeria.The delegates were hosted by Prof.

Emma Mwangi And Ann Muriungi Retirement party

The Internal Audit department held a retirement party for Ms. Emma Mwangi whoe served a secretary to the directorate and Ann Muriungi whoo served as an Assistant Chief Internal Auditor in the same directorate. The Combined farewell party was held on Friday 4th, July 2025 at the Central Catering Unit (CCU) Hall from 12pm. The event was grace by all Internal Audit staff. The department applauded them for their hard work and resillience. 

We wish Emma and Ann a fulfilling and happy retirement with God blessing.

Mr. Kenneth Gitau ranked second best in the Chief Audit Executive (CAE)

Mr. Kenneth Gitau ranked second best in the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) of the year public sector category in the Internal Audit and Risk Awards. The Awards Gala Dinner was held on April 11, 2025, from 6 p.m.-10 p.m., at Ole Sereni Hotel Nairobi. The Internal Audit department at the universiy of Nairobi wishes to congratulate thier Director on this great achieve. The Department got a certificate of participation.

National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign

The internal Audit staff participated in the National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign that was launched by H.E. The President on December 21, 2022.  The Campaign targeted the planting of at least 15 billion trees by the year 2032.  In this regard, the University of Nairobi committed to participate in this important exercise by planting trees on the respective campuses.

To support the campaign,  the University organized a tree planting exercise on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Upper Kabete Campus, field station.

AI Staff Celebrates Being Second Best In Central Performing Units/Directorates

AI Staff Celebrate being Internal Audit ranked the 2nd best in Central Performing Units/Directorates PC. The department was able to move up 2 steps from No.4 in 2022/23 to the 2nd best in 2023/24. This is as a result of all the staff teamwork and support to the attainment of the departmental objectives. The event was held at the Chandaria Auditorium on February 10, 2025. 

The congregation had gathered for the Annual Staff Recognition Awards Ceremony.
