The University of Nairobi has emerged winner of the Gender and Disability Inclusion Award 2024 at the 9th edition of the Kenya Inclusion and Equality Awards held on December 20, 2024. The event, held at the Boma Hotel, recognized institutions and individuals championing inclusion and equality in Kenya.
The University of Nairobi has improved its position in the QS World University Rankings 2025, moving into the 901-950 band globally. This is a step up from its previous placement in the 1001-1200 range in 2024.Within Kenya, UoN continues to lead, being the highest-ranked institution in the country and holding the 18th position in Africa among 40 universities on the continent featured in this year’s rankings. This accolade highlights its pivotal role in driving academic and research innovation regionally.

A report provided by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu indicated substantial financial mismanagement in public colleges, potentially resulting in a loss of more than Sh14 billion in taxpayer monies.
According to the research, numerous universities failed to properly account for large sums of money spent, revealing catastrophic financial mismanagement within the country's present financial crisis.

It is with a heavy heart that the Internal Audit Department received the sad news of the passing on of Mr. Patrick Agutu the former Chief Internal Auditor, UoN on 14th of June, 2024. Mr. Patrick Agutu had had served as Chief Internal Auditor from 2016 to 2019.

The University of Nairobi officially launched its strategic Plan 2023-2027 and commissioned the UoN@50 Anniversary book on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Confucius Institute.
All Internal Audit department staff held a luncheon on Friday 31st May, 2024 to bid farewell to Mr. Muasya, who has retired from service. Mr. Muasya has served the University for almost four decades. The luncheon was held at Mahatma Gandhi Graduate school boardroom. All staff wished him well as he proceeded with his retirement.
The internal audit staff participated in the goverment15 billion trees growing agenda on National tree planting day held on 10th May, 2024. In order to achieve the 15 billion trees target, the government has adopted a multi-agency cooperation approach as a key element towards the achievement of the initiative.
Tree planting at upper Kabete six staff members from internal audit participated with person planting over 50 seedlings. The member of staff present were Ms. Ann Muriungi, Ms. Esther Wambua, Ms. Racheal Kiiru, Ms. Rose Njoroge, Mr. Felix Warutumo, Mr. Evans Nyandumo and Mr. Chrispine Odhiambo.
