Context and Significance: In a time of increasing geopolitical tensions and conflicts, such as those in Sudan and Gaza, Kenya and Norway continue to work collaboratively on the global stage to promote peace and security. Both nations act as bridge builders between geopolitical divides, striving to maintain a balanced multilateral order. Norway’s recent recognition of the state of Palestine, alongside Spain and Ireland, highlights its active role in Middle Eastern politics. Concurrently, Kenya leads in peace and security efforts within the Horn of Africa and globally, including a planned police contingent deployment to Haiti.
The partnership between Kenya and Norway extends to the climate agenda and the blue economy, both bilaterally and multilaterally. Norwegian companies are increasingly investing in Kenya, particularly in agriculture, agri-technology, ICT, startups, and renewable energy sectors, with Norwegian state entities investing approximately USD 500 million in Kenyan companies.
