AWSC Presents a Gender-Based Approach Written Memorandum for the Building Bridges Initiative Bill, 2020

The African Women Studies Centre (AWSC) presented a public participation and memorandum submission for The Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020 as a matter under consideration before the Joint Committee of the National Assembly and the Senate. AWSC was represented by Dr. Agnes Meroka, Ms. Mary Wambui, Ms. Caroline Nyakinyua, and Mr. Musyoki Peter.

These are the sentiments that were echoed at the International Women’s Day webinar, ‘When Women Lead’ that was organized by Coca-cola on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

The webinar that was moderated by Media personality, Victoria Rubadiri was themed; ‘Emerging stronger for an inclusive world’ brought together female leaders from government, private sector and academia to deliberate on the challenges that women face in the workplace, business, and the different sectors of the economy.

Restructuring of Internal Audit and Establishment of Examination Office

The restructuring of the Internal Audit Department was guided by the Public Finance
Management Act Regulation 162(2). In addition, these was also guided by the Chancellor’s
Visitation Panel whereby in the committee report dated August 2018, that Internal Audit was
previously dedicating a lot of time on pre-audit of documents, which occupied on average 94%
of the Internal Audit working hours.
