CASELAP is crowned University’s overall best In Performance 2019/2020

Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP) has been crowned overall winner in the Performance Contract 2019/2020.

This was revealed in the Friday Morning University’s Performance Contract award ceremony January 29, 2021. 

Meru regional Learning Centre followed closely and Department of Educational Programmes clinched position 3.

CASELAP was also position 1 in the Institutes and Centres category, Position 2 was Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics and Position 3 was Institute for Development Studies

 

While unveiling the results and awarding the top three best performers in each category, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama noted that since the University adopted the Performance Contract in 2005/2006, UoN has maintained a measure of excellence.

Prof Kiama noted that  the University's units have continued to perform well in the core mandates of the university such as teaching, learning, research and strategic directions. However, he challenged six units that had been rated poor in their performance to do better .The awards ceremony will ensure that students and staff maintain a high tempo in performance, enriching the corporate image of the University for Excellence, and to improve its ranking worldwide. 

In the College ranking, College of Biological and Physical Sciences emerged best followed by College of Architecture and Engineering and College of Education and External Studies was third.

In Central Administration, Internal Audit, Open, Distance and E-Learning and Graduate School were top 3 in that order.

The Ag Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance Planning and Development (DVCFPD), Prof. Margaret Hutchison observed that the PC has helped the University to plan and work in one direction, measure the results and it has also improved efficiency in service delivery.

“PC has brought us together, solidified our vision and the culture of performance culture has been fully adopted as our way of life.” She noted.

Other categories that were ranked and awarded were schools without departments, teaching schools and faculties with departments, teaching departments and ODEL Regional Learning Centres. School of Arts and Design, School of Open and Distance Learning, Department of Educational Programmes and Meru Regional Learning Centre took position 1 in each of the categories respectively.

While congratulating the Winners, Prof. Margaret Hutchinson urged all the awardees to aim for excellence.

 The Ag DVC Research Innovation and Enterprise, Prof. Horace Ochanda, while moving a vote of thanks, noted the change in attitude towards PC over the years within the University Community and improvement in performance.
