The university of Nairobi community is celebrating one student, Ferdinand Omanyala who ran the 100 metres race in 10.11 seconds on Saturday Jan 23, 2021 at the Nyayo National Stadium. He clocked the fastest time in Kenya in the race in the second leg of Athletics Kenya Relays Series

Omanyala, the Bachelor of Science student at the College of Biological and Physical Sciences has set his sights on completing the race in less than 10 seconds. Ferdinand is looking forward to representing Kenya in international competitions.

Speaking to the Nation newspaper, he said, “I intend to compete abroad. It’s time to go international now. The performance is as a result of the good preseason I had with the Kenya Sevens rugby team in November and December. It’s a shame my time won’t be ratified as a national record but God’s time is the best. It will come gradually,” said Omanyala.

Omanyala’s win was not ratified as a national record because it was wind assisted.
