The University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice-chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama and the UoN Alumni Association (UoNAA) Chairman, Mr. Isaac Awuondo, officially signed a partnership agreement that will be mutually beneficial to the two institutions.
This agreement is a critical framework that shall guide the engagement between UoN and UONAA. The agreement focuses on several areas of collaboration such as joint partnership in resource mobilization from the Alumni, joint partnership in areas of mentorship and coaching, seamless engagement between UoN and UONAA, seamless engagement in alumni data management and partnership in publications touching on alumni stories.
It will reinforce interests of the university and the association so they can continue working cooperatively in order to better serve students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the University. It also aims to promote the liaison between the University, its graduates, former students, and to increase and expand alumni relations activities. In this regard, the Alumni Affairs Office under the Directorate of University Advancement & Institutional Development has been tasked with liaising all alumni related activities in the University.
In a meeting held on Thursday, August 26, 2021, Prof. Kiama emphasized the importance of UoN engaging the alumni directly especially those who may not necessarily be members of the Association but are graduates of the University. The Vice-chancellor challenged the alumni and other partners to support the University in the renovation of student hostels as part of the giving back campaign.
On his part, Mr. Awuondo lauded the signing of the partnership agreement. He further reiterated the association's support to the University and pledged to continue mobilizing alumni to give back to their alma mater.
UoN and UoNAA will meet regularly to discuss issues of common interest and to commit to a united and coordinated approach in addressing issues. UoNAA will continue being an advocate for the University.
