City-wide Tree Planting Exercise

They say that little strokes feel big oaks.

When the Central Committee on National Cohesion and Values mooted a tree planting exercise, little did the organising committee believe that it would morph into a university wide exercise.

The Tree Planting, scheduled for  Tuesday May 18, 2021, has garnered support  from the Equity Bank Group who are supplying 5,000 seedlings , and the Kenya Forestry Services, who are providing the  technics for tree planting including species selection and placement.

The Chief Internal Auditor Mr. Kenneth Gitau with Mr. Samuel Karanja an audit staff joined Management and Partners in Tree planting exercise in  Mathai Intitute in College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS) during the tree planting exercise on Tuesday,18 May 2021. 

RESUMPTION OF ON CAMPUS LEARNING 2020/21/22 ACADEMIC YEAR

The University of Nairobi wishes to inform the following groups of students that the resumption dates of the 2020/21/22 Academic are as follows:

Papal Dias - A National Monument

On April 30, 2021, the University community received news that the Papal dais, located at the University of Nairobi’s Chancellors Court, had been declared a national monument.  The information was contained in Gazette Notice Number 40114, signed by Sports and Culture Cabinet Secretary, Amb. Amina Mohammed. According to the notice, the site was found to have historical value and would be protected.

University of Nairobi Prizes - Celebrating Academic Excellence

The University of Nairobi is set to hold a prize presentation ceremony for students with outstanding academic performance on Friday May 7, 2021 at Taifa Hall. The prizes are in form of certificates, money, trophies and medals provided by donors to departments and faculties, schools and institutes to recognise and award top academic achievers amongst the student fraternity.

COVID-19 Vaccination Roll-Out

The University Health Services has now been registered as a COVID-19 Vaccination Centre by the Ministry of Health and the Nairobi County Government, through the Nairobi Metropolitan Services.

The Vaccination will commence on Thursday April 8, 2021 at 8.30AM outside of the Main Students Clinic. It should be noted that the University Vaccination Centre will be required to observe Government prioritization guidelines and to comply with COVID-19 health protocols. In this regard, the following categories of the priority target groups will be eligible:

UoN set to be a Covid-19 Vaccination Centre

The University of Nairobi (UoN) is set to commence COVID-19 vaccination for staff and students following the setup of a vaccination center at the University Health Services (UHS).

According to the Chief Medical Officer at UHS Lucy Ndahi, deliberations and efforts with Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) have been successful and UHS will be one of the approved centers to administer the jabs.
