The event recognised individuals and Internal Audit functions that are committed towards professionalizing their operations in conformity to Risk Management , Innovation, and Global international Professional Standards.

Internal Audit staff observed a special public holiday in honor of the National Tree Planting Campaign, which was a component of the Presidential Programme for the Accelerated Restoration of Forests and Rangelands. The campaign's goal is to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.

INCOME TAX ACT

The University of Nairobi’s department of Internal Audit led by the director, internal audit, Mr. Kenneth Gitau organized a Community outreach activity at the Havillah Children’s home in Mwiki Kasarani on September 1st 2023 where they donated foodstuff and toiletries to the home. The outreach was in accordance with the FY 2022/2023 Performance contract in which the department was required to visit a children’s home.  

Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Mercy Cheptoo, Kibet Brian and Musikoyo Elly Keanes, final-year students at the Faculty of Law are the winners of the Inaugural Strathmore Tax Law Hackathon. The competition required students to come up with innovative and equitable methods of taxing professional services and the digital economy.  The team also emerged as the second runner up in the best presentation category.

Since the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Act No. 45 of 2013 ("the Act") was enacted in December 2013, giving rise to new NSSF rates, there have been legal impediments.

The Employment and Labour Relations Court (ELRC) erred in declaring the Act illegal, according to the Court of Appeal in February 2023.
It determined that the ELRC lacked the authority to do so because that was the domain of the High Court.
As a result, the Act is now legal, and the government can enforce it.

On Friday February 24, 2023 at the Serena Hotel, the University of Nairobi (UoN) was awarded  ‘The Best ICT Academy 2022’ during the Huawei ICT Competition 2022-2023 Award Ceremony, since the signing of a Collaborative Agreement in 2018. This is the second time UoN has been recognized.

ICT staff members, George Ndegwa and Ruth Wambua were also recognized and awarded as the best instructors 2022.

All tax relief programs have been terminated by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) with immediate effect.

Board chairman Anthony Mwaura, who also served as the chairman of UDA's National Elections Board, said the action was motivated by growing concerns from Kenyans about how tax reliefs and exemptions were administered in a statement issued just days after a management purge forced out Commissioner-General Githii Mburu and other top executives.

On Tuesday 21st Feb, 2023, the Internal Audit Department Team B held an opening meeting with the Faculty of Engineering, for human resource audit in the faculty. From the Internal Audit department, in attendance was the Team leader Mr.Evans Nyandemo who chaired the meeting, Mr. Chrispine Odhiambo. And Ms.Mary Mukuwa.

The launch of the UHS integrated Digital Health platform supported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) marks a great milestone for the University in line with a long-term road map for digitizing its  functions  and processes. The launch event presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama was preceded by an interactive demo outlining a step by step patient process journey.
