50 UoN Students shortlisted for an Advanced Diploma from (AICAT) in Israel

50 students from the Faculty of Agriculture have been selected for the 2021/2022 Arava International Centre for Agricultural Training (AICAT). The students were on Thursday October 21, 2021 taken through a detailed Orientation Session aimed at preparing them adequately for travel to Israel.

The Youth stance on the law and justice system in Kenya

The University of Nairobi Student Association (UNSA) in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Students and the Youth Safety Awareness Initiative organized a forum on law enforcement and youth relationships. The forum provided an opportunity to deliberate on various ways to resolve disputes peacefully given the animosity between the students and law enforcement. The goal is to improve the relations between the police and the public, not just the youth.

Prof. Raphael Nyonje elected president, Kenya Universities Quality Assurance Network

Univeristy of Nairobi don, Prof. Raphael Nyonje has been elected president of Kenya University Quality Assurance Network (KuQAN) at the elections held on October 19, 2021.

Prof. Nyonje from the Faculty of  Education, replaces Prof. Anne Nangulu, the former Deputy Commission Secretary (Quality Assurance) at CUE and the current Principal, Bomet University College.

Nano technology lab to be established in Kenya

The Ambassador, Islamic Republic of Iran-Kenya, Dr. Jafar Barmaki met with the Principal Secretary, State Department for University Education and Research, Amb. Simon Nabukwesi, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Nairobi (UoN), Prof. Stephen Kiama, the Vice-Chancellor, JKUAT, Prof. Victoria Ngumi and representatives from Kenyatta (KU) and Pan African Universities to discuss the transfer of Nano Technology (Nano Tech) to the Africa continent and the establishment of a Nano Technology Laboratory in Kenya.

Korean Centre opened at the University of Nairobi

The Ambassador, Korea-Kenya, H.E. Choi Yeonghan and the Vice-chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof. Stephen Kiama officially opened of the Korean Language and Cultural Centre.

The Korean Centre is domiciled in the Department of Linguistics, Languages and Literature, in the Faculty of Arts, is located on the third floor of the Education Building at the Main Campus.

Students can now register as voters from campuses

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in collaboration with the University of Nairobi and College Students’ Peace Association of Kenya (UCSPAK) officially launched the students’ voter registration drive.

Students in institutions of higher learning can now register as voters from their respective campuses, and vote at their preferred polling station in the general elections 2022. The purpose of this drive is to increase youth participation in political processes by engaging them in institutions of higher learning at an early stage.
