Closing Meeting FHS Report

The Internal Audit Department held a closing meeting today (9th Feb, 2022) with the Faculty of Health Sciences to discuss the draft report of the Audit that was done in the Faculty. The meeting was led by the Director Internal Audit, Mr. Kenneth Gitau assisted by the Deputy Director Internal Audit, Ms. Hannah Ndung'u. In attendance were Internal Auditors from Team A led by Ms Tecla Makau the team leader, Chairmen of the various departments in the Faculty, the registrar as well as the Dean, Dr Evelyn Gaceri.

UNC TV and Radio are Live!

Friday, January 14, 2022 will go down in history as the day the University of Nairobi switched on its channels signal; tagged UNC TV and UNC Radio.

“We are here to witness history unfolding today! This is the moment we have all been waiting for - to have our own TV and radio station,” exclaimed the VC, Prof. Stephen Kiama.

The tag line for UNC TV is, ‘Empowering you’ and the UNC Radio is, ‘Sound of Knowledge’. UNC TV can be accessed through signet frequency 602.

Commemoration of the World AIDS Day

The university Commemorated the World Aids day on 2nd Dec 2021. The event kicked off on a high note with a prayer from Fr. Peter Kaigwa. The highlights of the event were two presentations. One was done by Professor Omu Anzala regarding the review of HIV vaccine and Research and Development and the second one was done by Dr. Loice Ombajo who did an excellent and enlightening presentation regarding HIV and Covid 19 care.

Mr. Jared Manono and Ms. Gladys Mumbua represented the Internal Audit department in the event.

The Internal Audit Department attends FY 2019/2021 PC Evaluations and FY 2021/2022 PC Negotiations

On 24th Wednesday 2021, the Internal Audit department led by the Director, Mr Gitau attended the FY 2019/2021 PC Evaluations and FY 2021/2022 PC Negotiations via Google meet. The meeting was hosted by Ms. Roselyn Shihemi. It started at 8.00 AM and ended at 10:30 AM.

Tax Expert weighs in on Fiscal Systems

The committee on fiscal studies (CFS) hosted tax talk on Wednesday November 3, 2021 to explore the linkages between debt international financial obligations and human rights.

The speaker for the day was Prof. Attiya Waris, UoN Director Research, presented a report to the General Assembly late last month on debt architecture. Prof. Waris noted that we have to rethink the debt architecture.

Experts debunk stigma around mental health

At the University of Nairobi’s Mental Health Awareness day celebrations held on Wednesday November 3, 2021, pertinent issues on mental health were discussed.

The day was marked in a bid to provide much needed insight given the upsurge in cases of illnesses such as depression, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and schizophrenia. It was important to debunk the stigma surrounding mental health issues in Kenya and provide information that would be integral in identifying early warning signs of mental health.
