PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES EMBEZZLED SH14 BILLION, AS REVEALED BY THE AUDITOR GENERAL.

A report provided by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu indicated substantial financial mismanagement in public colleges, potentially resulting in a loss of more than Sh14 billion in taxpayer monies.

According to the research, numerous universities failed to properly account for large sums of money spent, revealing catastrophic financial mismanagement within the country's present financial crisis.

The list with unexplained spending contained:

INTERNAL AUDIT STAFF PLANTS TREES AT UNIVERSIY TREE PLANTING DAY AT KABETE

Tree planting at upper Kabete six staff members from internal audit participated with person planting over 50 seedlings. The member of staff present were Ms. Ann Muriungi, Ms. Esther Wambua, Ms. Racheal Kiiru, Ms. Rose Njoroge, Mr. Felix Warutumo, Mr. Evans Nyandumo and Mr. Chrispine Odhiambo.

Internal Audit department won trophies during the inaugural 2024 Institute of Internal Auditors of Kenya Audit and Risk Awards

The category of the awards were pn:
1. Best Universities Internal Audit Function of the Year.
2. 2nd Runners up Chief Audit Executive of the year.
The event recognised individuals and Internal Audit functions that are committed towards professionalizing their operations in conformity to Risk Management , Innovation, and Global international Professional Standards.
